~ With Look Up Child, Lauren Daigle wanted these songs to represent childlike joy and spirit; even when faced with heaviness and strife, being able to hold onto hopefulness and exude light from Jesus.
This album is rooted strongly in the theme of identity-- resting in who we are as God's children rather than becoming lost in the frenzy of what the world tells us we are/need to be.
Relating back to the album title: In remembering who she is amidst the chaos, she kept reflecting on who she was as a child, holding onto playfulness and light. After her career took off so quickly, Daigle found herself overwhelmed, feeling disconnected from others, even while surrounded by more people than ever. She had to take time to ground herself in who she is, not others' expectations and pressures.
